That is the sort of life that you can celebrate as well as mourn.

After my grandfather's funeral we sat around for a couple of hours chatting about things he had gotten up to during his long life, including the rat story. We felt it was a fitting tribute to him, though there were a few there, who only knew him from church, that seemed shocked by some of the stories!

Hope it isn't too hard a time for you all.Rock Chefhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11259561583833857901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32614013.post-65046807967280101712008-06-19T04:57:00.000-06:002008-06-19T04:57:00.000-06:00thanks guys!Ganelle, 100 -- wowmartha -- what a gr...thanks guys!
Ganelle, 100 -- wow
martha -- what a great sentiment, all the family together for a last Christmas...I could be so lucky to go that way
anymommy..thank you...I think it's a universal understanding to see a person who is ready to go....no always easy for those of us who stay though.tzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12586960868908412491noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32614013.post-43386320615010317292008-06-18T22:38:00.000-06:002008-06-18T22:38:00.000-06:00I'm sorry for your loss. Sure, it was rough leaving my family on Christmas Day to make it in time for her funeral the next day. But, Grandma got two wishes that year: one to head home and two to have all her kids/grandkids gather for one final "Christmas with Grandma!".

I can see a little bit of your boys (and your hubby) in the photos of Papa Irving as a young man. Amazing how family resemblances play out...

Heartfelt sympathies...because even if he was ready, we're not always ready to realize a generation is no longer with us.Marthahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15504252339539190830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32614013.post-55185104800513081392008-06-18T21:19:00.000-06:002008-06-18T21:19:00.000-06:00Love the old pictures.
