I'm UGLY and had no idea!

I was listening to the radio the other day and the "hosts" or whatever you call them were talking about getting out of speeding tickets. I, myself, have gotten out of a few, twice in one day. The last ticket I got out of, I assumed it because I was wearing my scrubs, before that I just assumed that it was because I have that "I can do no wrong" innocent look.....BUT....and I am horribly devastated....it turns out, according to a police officer who called in to the show....that they give the tickets to the pretty girls and no tickets to the ugly girls because they don't want to seem biased......So, let's see, I've gotten out of about 7 speeding tickets in my life....that must make me pretty darn UGLY.

No, I will not be posting a picture of myself.....ever again....and I have hidden the mirrors under sheets in case I may crack them.....

Ok, now on to more serious issues...Jason (who does NOT find me ugly by the way) and I are celebrating our 16th year wedding anniversary -- WOO HOO (23 years together....we were CHILDREN when we met). We are taking a road trip and I thought I would make a 21st century Ipod version of the eighties (when we met) mixed tape of love songs....soooo, your assignment, should you choose to participate, is to let me know what your favorite love songs are so I can beef up my Ipod selections....oh and you have to let me know why too.

Here's to hoping you get speeding tickets...now that you know it's really a compliment!

I must be a knock-out. I've NEVER gotten out of a ticket. Even the one I got last week for failing to stop at a stop sign. I swear I didn't see it!

As for songs: U2 "With or Without You" great 80s love song. That one is Mike
"I'd Stop the World and Melt with You" Reminds me of Matt. Also, a lovely reference to Nuclear War, as is "Forever Young." Nothing like the end of the World to make your heart mushy.
How about "I Just Died in Your Arms Tonight." That would be Mike too.
And I haven't even started on Nate...

Sorry, I'm not much help.

How is it possible you've been married 16 years by the way! That is just weird. (Congratulations, I mean!)

Hmmmm... love songs from the 1980's? Well, I was awful young then, and for the most part, girls were all infected with C. ooties, but lemme think of some of the great 80's movies. OHHH! Karate Kid II--that song that the castrato guy sang. I don't know the name but the high-pitched lyrics go like this:

"I am the man who will fight for your honor . . ."

I hope that helps.

Ahhh, the 80's were so much fun. Also, I always get the ticket. Perhaps I only drive too fast on good hair days?

Happy 16 Anniversary! May you have many more happy, healthy years together.

80's love songs? Sorry, I don't think I had time to listen to any music during that busy (raising kids) time in my life.

"Our song" is one from the 60's -- Lay Your Head on My Shoulder -- a GREAT slow-dance song.

oh ooops, any love song is fine from any era! And hey, love all the songs you've mentioned...particularly OMD - I'll stop the world...and Phil...both Jason and I love phil We played Phil a lot, in the car, while it was parked...if you get my drift (OMG it's amazing we don't have a 20 year old!)

Ganelle...you are great looking, I could see that you would get tons of tix ;-)

colleeno..yup 16...can't believe it either...I bet you can't beleive it after I went on and on about how irritated I was with hubby last 'cawfee tawk'

scott...peter cetera? chicago? sang that song...In case you want to look it up...have you seen the wedding singer...talk about a multitude of top 40 80's....

Dodi....now you have proof you're a 'hottie'

sandra...I actually know that song..and they made some great music in the 60's, jason and i were born in the 60's.

A couple of Billy Joel songs - "She's go a way" and "You're my home". Both are on his live album that my wife and I played to death when we were first together and we had "You're my home" played at our wedding.

For something a bit different, how about "White Wedding" by Billy Idol?

chief...love billy joel! this really has been a trip down memory lane ;)

Okay, so I'm really trying to come out of my lurking cave... (but no promises yet on a blog of my own!)

One of my new favorites for love songs is "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson. It's not from the 80s, but I think it's really cute!

Congrats on 16 years! That's great. Where are you headed on your road trip?

Coffee Shop by Landon Pigg
Love of My Life by Santana and Dave Matthews (our wedding song)
Better Together by Jack Johnson
By My Side by Ben Harper
Universe and U by KT Tunstall

Those are a few of my favorites.

That should have been "She's got a way"...

I am not telling my husband your theory. He gets speeding tickets ALL the time! Like he needs more ammo!

Happy Anniversary, here's to many more happy returns.

Gess, I've gotten out of one and gotten one. I guess that means I'm "ho-hum" looking hahaha.

Today we are clelbrating our 3rd wedding anniversary (this makes 9 years total).

Before there were ipods, I made us "love mixes" and stuff like that for our road trips. And I thought I was the only silly person who did that.

I do love the 80's. What would the world be like without the leg warmers, tigh rolling your jeans, bomber jackets and the great music & movies of that time?

If I had known this all those years ago when Hubby was a young road patrol cop, I would have questioned him more closely about all those tickets! :}

Di...yay for May weddings...thanks for coming by
Sandra...now that's funny...hopefully he would have answered with 'i'd give you lots of tickets honey'
;)
