Wordless Wednesday

Wordless Wednesday isn't going to be so Wordless because I haven't posted in awhile....To the point that even Aimee and Colleeno posted before I did...gasp and that Ms. Martha had to nag, I mean, remind me to post....(love you Ms. Martha and thank you for the yummy lunch and conversation).

The other day I get a call from a recruiter for the ARMY....
I burst out laughing! Then I told him I was a fat housewife with two young children just now going back to school AND I was going to be FORTY in June (shhh, now that's our secret). He said..."We'll get you into shape, our cut off is 42 and we need nurses.

So I said (which, I usually do with pushy telemarketers) "send me the info".

Seriously though, it's not the money, not the serving my country thing....it was that wow, being away for 6 weeks in a boot camp where they force you to exercise that would really get me going...

Do they have spas? So you can get a nice mud wrap after a day of boot camp military drills?

Hey if they did, sign me up!

I am so NOT military material....I'm not even military wife material!

Now on to pictures from mother's day which was very nice by the way...my brother and sister in law flew in from the East for the weekend.

The Grandmas, who don't like to be called Grandmas....(Jason's mom is called YaYa which is Greek for Grandma, however they are not Greek...she just liked the way it sounded and my mother likes to be called Lita the end of Abuelita, Spanish for Little Grandma).

Mother's day Flowers...thanks Gina and Jose and the other set from my parents....

Proof that Spring is on it's way!

My grandfathers dream was for one of us, any of us, to be a Navy Nurse. he sent all the material to each of us starting at an early age. Which is odd, considering that he was in the Army... I hear that "boot camp" for doctors, nurses, dietitians and other health care people is a piece of cake (I mean really, are they going to make Dentists do push ups?? Not if they want to keep them!), and that they really just teach you all the different ranks, and a bit about military protocol. I did my clinical internship at an Army hospital, and one the best parts (that I realized in hindsight) is that ALL of the patients had insurance!

In any case, can I still start calling you Lieutenant Zimmer?

hahaha...noooo, no military for me! One in the family is enough...I mean would you like a husband and a sis in law in the military especially different branches?

I wonder why he wanted you guys to be navy nurses?

Think of it this way. If you went to boot camp, you would have fodder for posts to last you for YEARS!! Isn't that almost worth it? :}

Just think...you join the Army, and you'd make Captain probably before your brother does? giggle giggle...since an Army CPT is just an 03 vs. Navy is an 06.

Seriously, you know where I stand on this issue...but at the risk of offending others who don't appreciate my sense of humor/nor do they realize that I am a proud veteran myself of the ANC...I won't repeat my snarkyy remarks in a public forum.

Wow...my girlfriend served, she is amazing. Do you know the movie -Black Hawk down?, well she was right there in the thick of it....

I get goose bumps when I ask her to tell me the story again...

It changed the person she was and she longs to go back one day....

I have also nursed many ex- military nurses and they tell the most soul searching stories....

For me it's out of the question because I would worry about my children to much...but if I was single...I probably would have signed up yesterday...I hear they give you loads of butter jam and biscuits...Yuuuuuummmmoooo.

Your right through the excercise part does put me off a little LOL..

If we can't call you Lieutenant Zimmer, maybe it should be "Draft-dodger Zimmer" :-)

Beautiful flowers! Yeah spring, and I am SO not military material either! Although the no nonsense getting into shape does sound pretty good now that swimsuit season is theoretically just around the corner.

Wow. Your flowers are gorgeous, and the first photo is stunning (the colors all around are great.) Any of them still alive?

I would never make it out of boot camp now. Maybe once, but now. My body is falling apart and boot camp will make it worst.
